As cats are used to hunting and capturing
their prey in the wild, providing their food in a bowl twice a day or free
choice provides no challenge. They would normally spend up to 6 hours/day
hunting, stalking, catching and consuming their prey. Providing large chunks of
raw meat or chicken wings simulates eating their prey and is also good for
their teeth.
Spreading their dry food around in different locations up high,
down low and in hiding spots will make the cat use its hunting instincts to
find the food. Dry food and/or treats can be provided in treat balls/toys that
provide a challenging experience with rewards and also encourages exercise.
